Perception is everything.  The only question is how to create a favourable perception in the consumers mind.  What do you want your customers to perceive about your products/services? 

When the brand has credibility in the customers mind, using advertising can then ‘reinforce and remind’ customers of the credibility of your brand.

Advertising is to be consistent in that it reinforces, re-iterates and repeats the brand qualities in the customers mind.  Advertising follows up on the ideas and images already planted in the customers mind about a particular brand – as in corporate identity.  Advertising is about being consistent with the brand image to reinforce the messages already associated with the brand.

Advertising is a powerful brand building tool.  Especially when focusing on what’s new, what’s different, how is it unique, what makes it the best, how is it going to change your customers’ lives.
